ANTITHESIS AS POWERFUL LINGUISTIC TOOL OF PERSUASION IN POLITICAL SPEECHES IN KOSOVO
(AAB College, 2025-07-14) Llunji, Venera; Paçarizi, Albert
Political speeches play a vital role in the communication strategies of political leaders, enabling them to express their ideas, mobilize support, and persuade the public. Within this context, the effective use of rhetorical devices assumes paramount importance in conveying messages. This paper aimed to investigate the role of antithesis as a potent linguistic tool of persuasion in political speeches, specifically within the context of Kosovo. The paper sought to examine the prevalence and patterns of antithesis in political speeches delivered by Kosovo politicians, analyze its rhetorical effectiveness in shaping public opinion and influencing political discourse, explore sociopolitical and cultural factors that influence its usage, and assess its impact on audience perception and receptiveness to political messages. The paper employed methodologies such as corpus analysis, rhetorical analysis, and sociopolitical analysis, to achieve its objectives. The expected contributions of this paper lie in advancing our understanding of political rhetoric in Kosovo, highlighting the significance of antithesis as a persuasive linguistic tool, and enriching the knowledge base in the field of political communication.

Cultural Diplomacy of Kosovo after the Declaration of Independence
(AAB College, 2025-07-14) Saliu, Hasan; Llunji, Venera
The article analyzes a segment of the cultural diplomacy of non-state actors of Kosovo who have communicated with foreign audiences through the international media in the period after the country's declaration of independence in 2008. Analyzing the content of media coverage for non-state actors, the article examines the given messages of these actors in some powerful international media, which relate to the possibility of increasing the international image of the new country. The article finds that Kosovar non-state actors have continuously communicated with the global and regional public because it has been impossible for state actors to convey any positive message to the latter. The article, moreover, shows that Kosovar famous athletes and artists or world champions represent the soft power of Kosovo, because they have found enough space to be exposed in the international media. A significant feature of cultural diplomacy in the case of Kosovo is that the presence of hundreds and thousands of foreign peacekeepers in a country with as much security as other Balkan countries is also seen as an opportunity to influence the country's international image.

Effects of Nationalism in Countries in Transition: Attitudes toward Nationalism in Political Culture
    (AAB College, 2025-07-14) Llunji, Venera
Nationalism represents a serious challenge for the countries in transition. It is a factor which immensely influences and shapes the transitional process in politics in all South-Eastern European countries. It represents a challenge for the post-communist countries especially for countries like the former republics of ex-Yugoslavia, since, as Robert Kaplan points out in his foreword chapter to the book Balkan Ghosts: A Journey Through History, “ in the Balkans, no wars are ‘local’ ”. 1Societies in Europe are experiencing remarkable changes especially in politics and economy through empowerment of their democratic political and economic systems. Nationalism and nationalist attitudes are present in political cultures in countries of transition despite efforts for implementing democracy, rapid changes and modernization of societies at institutional level and social structure and despite the newly established environment of these societies. Countries in transition borrowed the so-called ‘copy-paste’ action, and tried the implementation of such systems without considering the specifics of countries in transition which subsequently faced the variances, inadequacy and quite often the inability for the implementation of the latter. Therefore, this paper aims to focus on political culture of transitional countries, with a specific emphasis on Kosovo, covering nationalism and the process of democratization as a very important part of its political system and its political culture.

Hypocrisy of the Society in Mark Twain's “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”
(AAB College, 2025-07-11) Sallauka, Ardian; Llunji, Venera
The main purpose of conducting this research was to give its readers a clear overview of the society, racism, religion, adventures, and most of all the hypocrisy of people at the time of Mark Twain (1835-1910). My focus was on how people treated each other as well as how they treated Tom, who is the main character of the novel, and how other children of the city were treated based on the role they had in the society they lived in. Considering the fact that these topics are very much alive even nowadays in our society, I hope this research paper will help people realize that many of these things are bad for societies and we should change for better in order to make the world a better place to live in. I did the research on this topic by first reading the book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” written by Mark Twain and by exploring resources from other related books and many trusted ejournals that gave me a better understanding of the novel, so its reader can have a clearer overview through a thorough analysis of the novel.

Issues of Small States in the Age of Globalization
    (AAB College, 2025-07-14) Llunji, Venera
The twentieth century has been characterized by the rise of nationalism in many parts of the world especially in the countries which lived under socialism and/or communism. Under socialism and/or communism, countries comprising of multi- ethnic groups lived in peace and cooperated and as such decreasing the possibility for any conflict. The collapse of communism and socialism in these countries of the Eastern Europe created opportunities for different forces to mobilize and capture state power mainly because these states turned into ineffective and weakened ones, as was the case with the former Yugoslavia where the ethno-national forces rose and caused ethnic strife and civil war which completely destroyed the society. The question which arises is why? Why did the destruction happen? Being a multiethnic and multinational society of different cultures, languages, history and religions, it entered into a war causing thousands of dead people, thousands of injured, destruction of properties and suffering of the people. Civil war in former Yugoslavia resulted with the partition of Yugoslavia into small independent states. But over the past few years, several changes have exposed difficulties upon these small independent states to recover fully from the harshness of the war: economic crisis, immigration, integration. IN addition, European countries have opened the doors to a new era of development, that of globalization which has been accepted mainly as the free movement of goods, services and people. Thus, this paper will deal with issues that small states face in the age of globalization.

    Rediscovering Nationalism
    (AAB College, 2025-07-14) Llunji, Venera
Different events which happened in Europe made not only Europeans but people all over the world think that the efforts for creating a unified Europe, and a global village is threatening national identities and livelihoods. Although globalization is considered as a buzzword of modern era, nationalism, too, is very much alive in its own way. Nationalism is not only expected to persist but also increase and intensify in response to and in opposition to forces of globalization. Thus according to Anthony Giddens, “the revival of local nationalisms, and an accentuating of local identities, is directly bound up with globalizing influences, to which they stand in opposition.”(Giddens, 1994:5).Therefore this paper will try to answer the question: Is there a link between nationalism and globalization? Can these two forces be complementary rather than contradictory? Is their existence a battle of winners and losers? The paper will shortly see the pros and cons and the implications of these forces in modern societies.

Sfidat e arsimimit të të rriturve në Kosovë
    (AAB College, 2025-07-14) Llunji, Venera
