Abstract

The master's thesis titled "International Administration of Kosovo: Inherited Disadvantages and Advantages" aims to analyze the impact of international administration on Kosovo's development since 1999. The research evaluates both the successes and failures of administrative dynamics in post-war Kosovo. It focuses on the diverse philosophies of international administrators from various political systems under the UN's mandate, exploring challenges such as the post-war anarchy, coordination between UNMIK, NATO, KFOR, and OSCE, and relations with other international actors. The thesis also examines the cooperation between international administrators and Kosovo's citizens in co-governance, up to Kosovo's declaration of independence in 2008. Key sectors analyzed include politics, economy, justice, security, health, education, and minority rights. Interviews with key figures, reports, and academic studies form the basis of the research. This work contributes to understanding international administration and provides recommendations for Kosovo's integration into the international community.
