This phenomenon, which is caused by various factors, such as cultural influence with deep roots in old patriarchal traditions, unhealthy living conditions, gender discrimination, unemployment, intergenerational control in the family, etc., constitutes a growing concern for Kosovar society, the government and civil society, as well as foreign donors operating in the country. Various studies highlight that it is difficult to measure the level and spread of domestic violence, since this phenomenon develops within the family and is considered a family matter. As a result, various studies estimate that there are several factors that may influence the low reporting of domestic violence, such as: shame, fear of punishment, cultural norms that exist for domestic violence, etc., so facts and figures should be viewed with caution, as they do not necessarily provide a clear picture of the prevalence of domestic violence in the country.Domestic violencegender discriminationpatriarchal normsvictim protectionsocio-economic factors.Thesis
