Abstract
Cyberbullying can have serious negative consequences for both the bully and the victim. Victims may experience lower self-esteem, increased anxiety and depression, and even suicidal thoughts. Cyberbullying is particularly harmful because it is public, pervasive, and provides anonymity not seen with traditional bullying. Cyberbullying is a growing problem in high schools, with serious negative impacts on students' mental health and academic performance. The purpose of the topic is to investigate the spread, prevalence, causes and impacts of cyberbullying among high school students in Pristina. The study focuses on understanding the specific dynamics of cyberbullying within the local context, including the factors that contribute to its occurrence and the responses by schools, parents and authorities. In this study, more attention is paid to the qualitative approach. The methodology used in this paper includes the entire topic starting from: literature review and various researches related to cyberbullying in students. Thus, in order to analyze the perception of students on cyberbullying, the form of the questionnaire has been selected to collect concrete and current data in the high schools of Pristina. Cyberbullying victimization is associated with lower school performance, school attachment, and elevated psychological distress, including depressive symptoms, self-harm, and suicide. Victims of both cyberbullying and school bullying are at higher risk, with 4-5 times greater odds of reporting psychological distress compared to those who do not experience bullying. The topic sheds light on the presence of cyberbullying, specifically bullying among students in schools in Pristina.
