Abstract

The study addresses the importance of observation and documentation in identifying the developmental, social, emotional, and educational needs of children in preschool institutions in the Municipality of Prishtina. The research was conducted using a mixed-methods approach, through questionnaires, interviews, direct observations, and action research with educators from public and private institutions. The findings show that educators consider observation an essential tool for understanding children and planning activities adapted to their individual needs. In addition, systematic documentation helps monitor children’s progress and improve pedagogical practice. However, educators face various challenges in carrying out observation and documentation. The study recommends strengthening these practices through continuous professional training, reducing administrative workload, and integrating systematic observation as a regular part of the educational process.
