Abstract

sample of 60 persons of two categories, of which 30 are full-time students of the Faculty of Physical Education and 30 are regular practitioners of body-building, with a minimum of training practice of one year, was subject to 3 tests of maximum strength, 4 tests of explosive strength, 2 repetitive strength tests, and 4 static strength tests. The main purpose was to compare similarities and differences between the two categories in dimensions of maximal, explosive, repetitive and static strength. By using adequate methods, it has been proven that there are differences which are significant, but not only in the favour of a single category. The main differences were found in the level of maximal strength, to the favour of students, in terms of maximal strength of legs and trunk, and to the favour of body builders, in terms of maximal strength of chest and arms. The main similarities between the two groups are found in the factor of repetitive and static arm strength, while in explosive strength, there is a more combined overview, because at legs, the strength of students is visibly greater. Body builders show a greater degree of explosive strength, but also of maximal strength of arms.
